The Smoky Mountain Wheelmen 20th Edition of the Cherohala Challenge was a great success!!

The 2023 date is June 3.
The June 4th event offered three distinctive rides to fit various skill levels with rides of 45, 62 and 115 miles.
As usual, the 115 mile route featured the famed Dragon, the Cherohala Skyway and surrounding region with its over 10,000 feet of climbing. The Metric Century tackled the toughest Metric Century in our area featuring amazing climbs, scenery and descents. The Charles Hall Memorial ride rode along the Tellico River past Bald River Falls to the North Carolina line before descending back to Tellico Plains.
•King and Queen of the Mountain Jerseys for the first male and female rider who completed the Century Ride were also determined.
Through partnerships with Cherohala Cycles, the Town of Tellico Plains, and Monroe County Tourism, the Inaugural Skyway Cycling Festival was held starting Friday night at the Mecca Camp Resort in Tellico Plains. The Festival continued on Saturday, June 4, 2022 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Tellico Plains visitor center featuring vendors, food trucks, cycling specialists, and more, while also promoting safe cycling skills and driver, cyclists, pedestrian safety. This addition expanded the Cherohala Challenge to a true family event that everyone could enjoy while supporting their favorite cyclist.
